What we do, and why

The Service Member Financial Readiness Network (SMFRN) was founded in 2026 by a small group of individuals who share a conviction that has become impossible to ignore: the men and women who volunteer to serve this country deserve better financial preparation than most of them receive.
The financial pressures facing active duty military members are real and well-documented. Young enlisted service members — many living independently for the first time — are navigating car purchases, credit cards, rent, and allotments on modest pay, in communities where the cost of living can be unforgiving. Predatory lenders know where military installations are. Financial mistakes made at 19 can follow a service member for years. SMFRN was established to meet that gap directly.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our founding team brings together backgrounds in finance, military service, and community leadership — united by a belief that financial education should be a right, not a privilege, for those who serve. Our first program, the Mission Ready Money Project, delivers free, non-commercial financial education and coaching to active duty service members.

What makes us different is what we don't do. We sell nothing. We recommend no products. We accept no compensation from financial institutions for referrals. Every resource we provide is free, every educator is credentialed, and every dollar we raise goes directly toward serving the people wearing the uniform.
SMFRN is new. But the need we exist to address is not.
